A 1970s telephone bench made by Chippy Heath, a British manufacturer based in High Wycombe. Made of teak, this stylish bench, named the Chippy Compact, was designed to provide a comfortable place to sit whilst talking on the telephone, back in the days of non-mobile phones which couldn't be carried around the house. Nowadays it makes a perfect hallway seat to put on your shoes, with ample storage for shoes, bags and umbrellas in the cupboard underneath, and a small storage cubby for your keys. It has its original vinyl upholstery in a dark marbled green, and iconic 'Chippy' wipe-clean whiteboard for reminders, with pencil slot.
The bench is in excellent condition with very minor signs of use. The upholstery is undamaged without splits or holes. The wood has been stripped and refinished with protective oil and wax. Please examine the photographs and feel free to ask us any questions, or request more pictures.
