A 1970s telephone bench, the 'Hiilton', made by Chippy Heath, a British manufacturer based in High Wycombe. Made of teak, this quality bench was designed to provide a comfortable place to sit whilst talking on the telephone, back in the days of non-mobile phones which couldn't be carried around the house. Nowadays it makes a perfect hallway seat to put on your shoes with storage for your keys and umbrella, or maybe as a comfy reading seat. It has its original upholstery in a muted green / beige velour fabric and iconic 'Chippy' wipe-clean whiteboard for reminders, with pencil slot. There is a small drop front storage cupboard, originally for phone books.
The bench is in excellent condition with very minor signs of use. The upholstery has been cleaned and the wood stripped and refinished with protective oil and wax. Please examine the photographs and feel free to ask us any questions, or request more pictures.
All of our genuine vintage furniture is in original condition unless stated otherwise, and therefore in line with the manufacturing practices and standards of the time. It may have minor marks or smell as a result of its long life. If you are unsure if a vintage item will be suitable for you, please feel free to get in touch.
