A beautiful quality, figured walnut jewellery or keepsake box, lined in dark red moiré silk and velvet, dating from the 1870s or 80s. The box is intricately decorated with marquetry patterns in contrasting woods, and has a brass plate on the lid which could be engraved. It has a working lock and key with brass escutcheon, and green baize underneath.
