The 'spider' coffee table was part of the Astro range designed by Victor Wilkins for English company G Plan in 1970, first appearing in the 1971 New Models Folder. Unlike other furniture of the era, the Astro tables are solid wood and exceptionally well made. The spider table was larger and more expensive than the more common Astro table and is therefore more rare and sought after. The reason for the table's nickname is obvious - the curved legs have an architectural feel that makes this table a real statement piece. It would suit any vintage-inspired or modern interior.
This table is in excellent, restored condition, with its original glass. It has been stripped, oiled and finished with protective wax. The wood is a lovely rich colour with exceptionally beautiful grain, and only very minor marks. There are a few tiny scratches to the glass. I'm happy to provide a quote for toughened, replacement glass if desired. Please examine the photographs and feel free to ask us any questions.
