Barbola Floral Mirror
 
A charming vintage tabletop vanity mirror, decorated with flowers and leaves in beautiful muted shades of yellow, blue and green with touches of pink. 'Barbola' is the decoration of items with flowers and fruits, made of a plastic paste called barbotine. Dating from the 1920s/30s, they imitated expensive wood carvings.
 
This example has an unusual slanted top, with the mirror cut on an angle. It gives it an Art Deco feel, also popular in the 1920s. It  is a heavy, quality item with a bevelled edge, wooden backing and small brass bun feet. It has an easel back and is perfect for a country dressing table.

The mirror is in good vintage condition, and the minor wear adds to its vintage appeal. There are minor cracks to the barbotine and some wear to the paint on the flowers and backing. There is one spot of damage on the mirror behind the glass, around 1cm diameter, and one chip to the edge of the mirror on the bottom right corner.
