1920s Art Deco Walnut Bedside Cabinet
 
A beautiful cabinet veneered in figured walnut by Czech designer Jindrich Halabala. Designed in 1921, this cabinet has all the glamour of the Art Deco era; gentle curves, delicate colours and intricate patterns. 
 
The cabinet has one drawer and a cupboard beneath. It is made of hardwood, finished with walnut veneer, laid in an attractive symmetrical (book match) pattern. It doesn't have a maker's mark but research suggests that the maker was Jindrich Halabala and the rear is stamped with 'Made in Czechoslovakia'. 
 
It is in good vintage condition - there are very minor marks on the veneer and one small area on the top, in the rear left corner, where the veneer is worn and has been repaired. The hinge and internal catch are tarnished. Inside the cupboard, the bottom has some stains. The cabinet has been carefully restored, oiled and finished with protective wax.
