Ladderax 3 Bay 1960s Vintage Shelving System Unit, Black Metal and Teak

A fabulous set of original Ladderax with black metal uprights and teak units. This lovely modular unit can be set up in a variety of ways and looks as contemporary and stylish as it did when new in the 60s. 
 
The set comprises 2 longer and 2 shorter ladders plus 18 horizontal rods which support a range of storage units; 5 deep and 1 shallow shelf, a sloping display shelf, bureau and chest of drawers. There is an original key which works in both the bureau and drawer lock. The unit is freestanding. 
 
The Ladderax system was invented in 1964 by Robert Heal for Stapes of Cricklewood, London. Inspired by Danish designers who created the clean and simple lines of the mid century modern style, the combination of black and teak looks fantastic and provides excellent storage.

Overall width 2.77m. Maximum height 2m. Depth 36cm. Shelf/cabinet/chest width 89cm. 
 
Please note that the unit is not in perfect condition, although it still looks great and is strong and functional. There are small but multiple patches of surface corrosion on the metal ladders, veneer chips on some of the shelves and some light fading on one shelf in particular.  The bureau also has a slightly musty smell.
