Vintage 'Norsk' Axminster Mid Century Rug / Carpet in Green, Gold, Grey Abstract

Vintage 60s 'Norsk' Wool Rug by Axminster
 
Following the trend in the 60s and 70s for Scandinavian style, British carpet manufacturer Axminster made the Norsk range of rugs featuring abstract patterns and strong colours.  Swedish rugs, known as Rya (which literally means 'rug' in Swedish), became popular, in the same way that Danish furniture inspired many British furniture makers in the 1960s, and British makers updated their designs to appeal to buyers.
 
This rectangular rug has a background of dark grey with shades of olive green blending into gold and mustard yellow. It has long pile made of 80% wool and 20% nylon. The rug is in excellent condition - the pile is thick without threadbare patches, the rug has no stains, holes or other damage. The original labels are intact.
