White & Newton Mid Century Vintage Teak Dressing Table or Desk, 1960s

A very attractive teak dressing table or desk made by Portsmouth-based manufacturer White and Newton in the 1960s, in the new Midcentury Modern style influenced by Danish design. An unusual feature is the corrugated front on the smaller top drawers and inverted handles, all solid teak. The bottom drawers also have solid teak handles and veneered fronts. The legs and frame are solid, with veneered top and sides. The left top drawer contains a velvet-lined tray on runners which was designed for jewellery. This drawer also has the original manufacturer's sticker.

Chair / stool recess: Width 45cm, Height 59cm.
 
The table is in very good vintage condition, with minor marks to the wood. The top has been stripped, oiled and finished with protective wax; the rest of the piece is in original condition and has also been cleaned, oiled and waxed.
